Philosophy

For Foundations of Health, Physical Education, and Sport, we have to complete a personal philosophy assignment. While it doesn't sound very hard, I have no idea where to start. Many of us know what we stand for and can name off some of our values. I've always thought I knew, but now that I have no idea how to put this down on paper, I'm questioning myself. Because of this, I'm trying to use this paper as a sort of reflection and figure out what my personal philosophy of life truly is. We were shown different philosophies in the book such as idealism and existentialism, and we are supposed to decide which category we fit into the best. For me, even this is hard to decide. Some of the categories seem so out there, but others seem to fit me very well. I've finally decided that I fit best into the category of pragmatism. Basically, I think that reality and the truth is based on my previous life experiences. Despite this, I think I could also fit into the category of realism. Experiences can help people to understand nature and nature is a major factor in what happens throughout the universe. While these two beliefs contradict each other, I agree with both in a way. I find it interesting to read about all the different philosophies and think about the world from their perspective. If you think about it, there really is much more to our world than we realize.

  1. It is hard to figure out your own personal philosophy...especially when most people don't actually sit down and think about it
